The Swatara Township Police Substation is outfitted with kitchen and restroom facilities, battery charging stations and desks for police officers to complete reports and other written documents. The area also includes a reception station that provides Mall information and directions, wheelchair and stroller rentals, Mall directories and brochures of nearby attractions and a lost and found area. The Security Monitoring Area features glass window walls that make the interior of the space highly visible to Mall patrons, and an upgraded video surveillance system that tracks activity throughout the Mall in real-time. The one million square foot regional mall is located on Paxton Street. John Properties and Petrie Ross Ventures, features more than 70 tenants, including anchor stores Macy’s, Bass Pro Shops, 2nd & Charles, and Regal Cinema’s Great Escape Harrisburg Mall Stadium 14. He plans to expand with new locations in Central Pennsylvania. Chen, a seasoned restauranteur who owns five Hibachi Grill restaurants in the Harrisburg area, explained that Kondu is designed to capitalize on the lack of quick-serve Asian restaurants in the local marketplace. A customized drink program includes Asian bubble tea. Kondu owner Ricky Chen describes the new restaurant concept as “the Japanese version of Chipotle or Panera Bread.” The menu is comprised of sushi-ritos, a made-to-order sushi burrito hibachi-style items such as Teppanyaki which features chicken, beef and seafood cooked on an iron griddle and other items such as chicken, beef and shrimp teriyaki.
